With advice from Damien Mander (Founder of IAPF), the ZEITZ foundation launched East Africa’s first ever All Women Anti-Poaching Ranger Academy on Segera in 2019. The initiative not only empowers women in what is traditionally a very male-dominated field, but creates mentors out of them, which in turn stimulates peace, intercultural understanding, conservation education and open dialogue in their communities. By the end of their time at the Academy, they are highly trained professionals, having undergone extreme selection processes, vigorous drills and field exercises directed by highly qualified instructors.
