A BioDigester has been installed at Loisaba, which turns any organic waste (including the cleared cactus) into both a rich fertiliser and methane gas – which is then used to cook food in the security ranger canteen. Loisaba also has a Community Cooker – an innovative yet practical waste-to-energy technology that burns waste in an environmentally friendly way (at 880 – 1,200 o C) to generate heat energy for cooking and heating water.
